Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Approves Hunting Regulations Changes for 2022-23

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved hunting regulations for the 2022-23 season at its public meeting held March 24 in Austin. Commissioners adopted the following modifications and clarifications to the 2022-23 Statewide Hunting Proclamation:

AUSTIN — Las áreas de Texas que históricamente han tenido altas poblaciones de guajolote silvestre para cacería tendrán números sólidos de nuevo esta temporada de cacería de primavera.  Los biólogos del Departamento de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas (TPWD) dicen que los cazadores tendrán la mejor de las suertes en las regiones de los Cross Timbers, la Meseta Edwards y el Sur de Texas.

Areas with Historically Strong Turkey Populations Sets the Table for Hunter Success this Spring

AUSTIN – Areas in Texas that have historically had huntable populations of wild turkeys will have solid numbers again this spring hunting season. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists say hunters will have the most luck in the Cross Timbers, the Edwards Plateau and South Texas regions.

TPWD Reminds Turkey Hunters that Harvest Reporting is Mandatory in Select South-Central Texas Counties

AUSTIN – This spring turkey season, hunters in Bastrop, Caldwell, Colorado, Fayette, Jackson, Lavaca, Lee, Matagorda, Milam and Wharton counties are required to report their harvests. Mandatory harvest reporting will increase the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) ability to manage wild turkey populations by accurately estimating the harvest in these counties.

Public Meeting Set in Grayson County to Present Proposed Changes to White-Tailed Deer Hunting Regulations

DENISON – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Wildlife Division staff will be presenting proposed changes to white-tailed deer hunting regulations in Collin, Dallas, Grayson, and Rockwall counties on March 9, at 7 p.m. at the Grayson College Center for Workplace Learning.

AUSTIN -  Hunting-related accidents in Texas are at an all-time low since Hunter Education became mandatory in 1988, according to the 2021 Texas Hunting Accident Report released by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).

Los Biólogos Pronostican una Temporada General Excepcional de Venado de Cola Blanca este 2021-22

AUSTIN — Los biólogos del Departamento de Parques y Vida Silvestre de Texas (TPWD) les informan a los cazadores que pueden esperar una temporada excepcional de venado cola blanca este 2021-22. Se estima que la población de venado cola blanca en todo el estado es de alrededor de 5.4 millones de venados y, aunque se ha reducido ligeramente respecto a los años anteriores, las predicciones de la cantidad de cervatillos por adulto reclutados a la manada (tasas de supervivencia del cervatillo) indican que habrá un firme incremento en la población en esta temporada.
