$4.3 Million in Local Grants Okayed by TPW Commission

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission today approved $4.3 million in competitive grants for community parks, nature trails and recreation centers throughout the state. Nine projects from among 37 eligible applications submitted for recreation grant matching funds were selected by commissioners for funding.

TPWD Seeks Volunteers for Old Tunnel Bat Tours

AUSTIN, Texas — From May to October, Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area  near Fredericksburg is home to approximately 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is seeking volunteers to greet visitors and perform miscellaneous duties around the wildlife area.

Texas the State of Flowing Water Video Documentary To Air Feb. 12

AUSTIN, Texas — The one-hour video documentary Texas the State of Flowing Water will air at 8 p.m. central time, Thursday, Feb. 12 on all Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations in Texas. It is the fourth in an award-winning series of water resource documentaries produced by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and broadcast in partnership with PBS stations.

Search for Missing Boater Now in Day 6

CORSICANA, Texas — Texas game wardens and volunteers continue to search Richland Chambers Lake today for the victim of a boating accident that occurred Saturday morning.

Co-Op Grants Fund "Back To Nature" Efforts, Ike Recovery

AUSTIN, Texas — "Back to nature" seems to be the common theme among 17 recipients of Community Outdoor Outreach Program (CO-OP) grants offered by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. TPWD this month awarded grants totaling more than $500,000 to school districts, cities, museums, youth groups, foundations and other groups in cities across Texas.

CORSICANA, Texas — Texas game wardens and volunteers recovered the body of Charles Andrew (Chase) Bergfeld from the waters of Richland Chambers Lake today at approximately 2:15 p.m.
