Independent Panel to Examine Rolling Pines Wildfire

AUSTIN— At today’s meeting of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) announced the selection of an independent panel to review the circumstances and cause of last week’s escape of a prescribed fire at Bastrop State Park.

TPWD Issues Update on Rolling Pines Fire

BASTROP – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff continue to respond with agency partners to the Rolling Pines Fire in Bastrop County. Crews worked throughout the night and day to manage containment without injuries or loss of residential structures at this time. Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management has rescinded its evacuation order for most residents in the affected area.

Rolling Pines Fire Prompts Evacuations in Bastrop County

BASTROP – On Tuesday, Jan 18, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) initiated a prescribed fire at Bastrop State Park that spread beyond the intended fire boundaries.  The cause of that spread is unknown at this time. TPWD is working with the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS), the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and other partners to contain the fire, provide resources and support, and protect the health and safety of its neighbors.

2022 Toyota ShareLunker Legacy Class Season Kicks Off with Pair of Entries from O.H. Ivie

ATHENS – It didn’t take long for the first pair of Legacy Class largemouth bass of the 2022 Toyota ShareLunker season to find their way into angler’s boats. It was more than fitting that Tyler Anderson from Austin and Wendell Ramsey, Sr. of San Angelo, landed 14.48 and 14.92 – pounders respectively during week one of the season at O.H. Ivie. Last year, the fishery produced 12 of the 23 Legacy Lunkers during a remarkable 2021 season.

Toyota ShareLunker Program Kicks Off 36th Season This Weekend

ATHENS – The month of January begins a new year and with it the beginning of the 36th season of the Toyota ShareLunker program when anglers across the state, and for that matter the nation, cast their lines and fish for Largemouth Bass in Texas’ world class fisheries. The Toyota ShareLunker program has played an integral part in making Texas a destination for hundreds of thousands of anglers in search of this prized sport fish.

Greet the Holiday Season at a Texas State Park, THC Historic Site

AUSTIN— Texas State Parks and the Texas Historical Commission are hosting their biggest holiday season yet with more than 80 unique holiday events happening across the state. Starting this Saturday, Nov. 20, 47 Texas State Parks and eight State Historic Sites are presenting themed guided walks, scavenger hunts and more.
