AUSTIN— With the wide variety of unique flora and fauna available around the state, Texas state parks are a go-to for capturing breathtaking images. This fall, four state parks in the Austin/San Antonio area will be participating in a pilot digital photography program.
AUSTIN – On Saturday, Sept. 26, volunteers around Texas and the nation will visit their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves, or forests and help improve these treasured places by celebrating National Public Lands Day.

QUITAQUE – With music, art, food and family fun, the fifth annual Texas State Bison Music Festival invites the public to celebrate the state’s official bison herd in Quitaque on Sept. 19.

AUSTIN— After flooding left more than 50 Texas state parks drenched over the Memorial Day weekend, communities and park staff statewide have banded together to clean up, restore, and reopen most of the damaged sites. Thanks to their efforts, only four parks remain closed; Cedar Hill State Park, Lake Somerville State Park (all units), Lake Whitney State Park, and Ray Roberts Lake State Park (all units).
AUSTIN— The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission today approved more than $7 million in competitive grant funds for 25 community parks all across the state.
AUSTIN— Over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, more than 12 inches of rain led the Blanco River to crest at 40 feet, causing significant flooding and damage to Blanco State Park. After more than two months of closure for cleanup and repairs, the popular site is reopening portions of the park to visitors Saturday, Aug. 1.
