San Jacinto Marsh Restoration Enters New Phase

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is starting the next phase in an ongoing effort to restore the San Jacinto Battleground to its appearance in 1836. The restoration efforts, which date back to 1994, include reseeding prairie areas as well as marsh restorations on more than 120 acres so far.

TPWD to Conduct Prescribed Burn at Mustang Island State Park This Week

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Wildland Fire Team will be implementing a prescribed fire at Mustang Island State Park this week beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The burn should not affect campers or day-use visitors on the gulf side of State Highway 361, but public access to the bay-side of the park will be closed during the burn.
