Veteran Suicide Awareness Ruck Hike Scheduled at 16 Texas State Parks in September

AUSTIN— September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and 16 Texas State Parks will be hosting hikes to shed light on this issue, which affects many veterans and their loved ones. The Veteran Suicide Awareness Ruck Hike, an annual event organized by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Veteran’s Liaison Nicole Mechler, allows families, friends and veterans to network and build a support system, as well as spread the word about veteran-specific mental health issues.

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved statewide deer carcass disposal regulations during its May meeting in an effort to reduce the risk of transmission of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) across the state. For most hunters, these new regulations do not change how they currently care for their deer after harvest.

66th Texas Game Warden and Texas State Park Police Cadet Class Graduates

AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) graduated the 66th Texas Game Wardens and Texas State Park Police cadet class May 31 at Bannockburn Baptist Church in Austin. The class included 31 game wardens and 10 state park police officers.
