Campaign Launched to Restore Lost Pines Forest Destroyed in Bastrop Fire

BASTROP – Nearing the one-year anniversary of the most destructive wildfire in Texas history, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Arbor Day Foundation and Texas A&M Forest Service today appealed for help by launching the Lost Pines Forest Recovery Campaign, a multi-year public-private partnership to raise money to plant more than 4 million trees on public and private land.

AUSTIN – Texas Outdoor Family, a Texas State Park family camping program, announces 26 new workshops at state parks across Texas to teach families the basics of camping and enjoying the great outdoors. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Seeks Official Corporate Partners

AUSTIN – For the first time, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is seeking Official Corporate Partners to raise additional revenue to help meet financial challenges, including those facing state parks due to drought and wildfires. This new funding strategy was made possible during the last legislative session by the passage of House Bill 1300, in which state lawmakers gave TPWD authority to develop partnerships with private businesses.

Longhorn Cavern State Park Provides Illuminating Experience

Staff from Texas Parks and Wildlife, Longhorn Cave Tours, Inc., area chambers of commerce, as well as volunteers and dozens of guests were on hand at Longhorn Cavern State Park Thursday evening to cut the ribbon and ceremoniously “reopen” the popular Hill Country destination, following a major renovation of the cave’s lighting system.
