Franklin Mountains State Park Hosts “A Fresh Take on Classic Views” Event

EL PASO – Franklin Mountains State Park will host a special event from 3-5 p.m. Feb 3 to open its Texas State Parks: A Fresh Take on Classic Views poster exhibit, hosted at the Tom Mays Visitor Center located inside the park.
The event is a collaboration between a University of Texas – El Paso graphic design class led by Professor Anne M. Giangiulio and Franklin Mountains State Park, where students designed two posters, styled in the work progress administration era, showcasing West Texas state parks and trails.
Fourteen of those posters will display at the center Feb. 3 — 24. The exhibit is free and available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Visitors will not pay a park entrance fee if they are only coming for the exhibit.
Franklin Mountains State Park’s headquarters is located on 2900 Tom Mays Access Road in El Paso. The park opened in 1987 and, at 26,627 acres, is the largest urban park in the nation. It covers 40 square miles, is completely contained within the city limits of El Paso, and offers hiking, mountain biking, camping, rock climbing, ranger programs and special events throughout the year.
