AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is recommending changes to next year’s hunting and fishing regulations. The department is seeking comment on these proposed changes to the state’s hunting and fishing regulations during a series of public hearings.

TPWD Proposing Spring Turkey Closure for 15 East Texas Counties

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is considering closing spring turkey hunting in 15 East Texas counties where turkey populations are believed to have dipped below what biologists believe are sustainable numbers. The recommendation tops a brief slate of proposed hunting regulation changes for 2011 presented to the TPW Commission’s Regulations Committee.

TPWD Seeks Public Input on How Spotted Seatrout Should be Managed

CORPUS CHRISTI — Due to continued public interest in overall spotted seatrout population health, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Coastal Fisheries Division staff will host a series of coastwide scoping meetings in January to obtain public input on potential conservation measures for spotted seatrout as part of the annual statewide proclamation process.   Coastal Fisheries staff will consider input on how spotted seatrout are currently managed in Texas.
