Balmorhea State Park Pool Closed Until Further Notice

BALMORHEA— Due to structural failure, the Balmorhea State Park pool will be closed until further notice pending repairs. Damage to the concrete apron under the diving board, which is used to stabilize the walls of the pool from erosion, was found during the pool’s annual cleaning this week. Park officials are evaluating the extent of the damage and taking steps to repair the structure.

Catfish Season Returns to Neighborhood Fishin’ Lakes Across Texas

AUSTIN – With spring underway and summer break on the horizon, many Texas families are looking for ways to get outside and connect with nature. In an effort to bring new fishing experiences to families in urban centers, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will begin stocking thousands of catfish at 18 Neighborhood Fishin’ lakes and ponds across the state starting April 17-20.

Bastrop State Park Pool Closing for Major Renovation

BASTROP– On Monday, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department began a major renovation of the Bastrop State Park Pool to repair significant leaks and upgrade mechanical equipment. The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, will cause the pool to close during the 2018 season.

AUSTIN — For the seventh year in a row, Whole Earth Provision Co. will support Texas State Parks throughout the month of April during their “April is Texas State Parks Month” fund drive at all eight locations across the state. The Texas-based travel, adventure and nature store will give all funds gathered during the effort to help fund state parks’ day-to-day operational expenses, including enhanced visitor programs, park trail maps and facilities maintenance.
