Redevelopment Planned for Hurricane-Wrecked Sea Rim State Park

PORT ARTHUR – Design work is underway to redevelop Sea Rim State Park whose facilities were damaged first by Hurricane Rita, rebuilt and again destroyed in September 2008 by Hurricane Ike before the park could reopen.

TPW Commission To Meet Dec. 20 in Austin

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. Dec. 20 at Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Austin headquarters to consider two land acquisitions, one on the Devils River in Val Verde County and another near the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens.

BURNET — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has decided not to renew the contract for the leaseholder who operates the nine-hole Highland Lakes Golf Club at Inks Lake State Park. The current contract expires Nov. 30.

TPWD Proposes Land Acquisition for New State Park on Devils River

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission on Nov. 4 will consider a proposal to acquire a 17,638-acre property for a new state park on the Devils River in Val Verde County. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department leaders will hold public meetings about the proposal Oct. 20 in Del Rio and Oct. 26 in San Antonio.

Palo Duro Canyon to Remain Open During Road Work

CANYON – Palo Duro Canyon State Park’s main park road from the rim to the canyon floor will remain open this winter during what may be up to five months of construction to stabilize the asphalt roadway and improve drainage.
