Parks and Wildlife Commission Approves Zebra Mussels Rules for North Texas

AUSTIN — Using new authority granted by the last regular session of the Legislature, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Thursday approved a rule requiring anyone leaving or approaching public waters in 17 North Texas counties to drain their boats to prevent the further spread of invasive zebra mussels.

AUSTIN – The son of a former Upshur County commissioner arrested in October 2012 for holding a state game warden at gunpoint has pled guilty to one count of unlawful restraint, a Class A misdemeanor.

Defendant in State Game Warden Hostage Case Pleads Guilty

AUSTIN – A former Upshur County commissioner arrested in October 2012 for holding a state game warden at gunpoint has pled guilty to the third-degree felony offense of taking a firearm from a peace officer and further admitted in his plea that he could be found guilty of aggravated assault on a public servant.

Suspect in Aggravated Assault of Two Game Wardens in Custody

TEAGUE — Texas game wardens, with assistance from local and state officers, have arrested a suspect in the injury of two game wardens following a pursuit early Saturday. The arrest was made about two miles southeast of Teague in Freestone County at 3:15 p.m. today.

Searchers Find Woman Lost at Big Bend Ranch State Park

BIG BEND RANCH STATE PARK – A 43-year-old woman who had been lost in the 300,000-acre Big Bend Ranch State Park for more than four days with little water and no food has been located by a search and rescue team made up of State Park police officers, Texas game wardens, other game wardens assigned to the newly created Game Warden SAR Team, and volunteer TX SAR members. The rescue occurred shortly after noon Sunday.
