TPWD Dedicates Justin Hurst WMA in Honor of Fallen Warden

FREEPORT, Texas — The site formerly known as Peach Point Wildlife Management area near here is being formally rededicated as the “Justin Hurst WMA” in recognition of the game warden and former wildlife biologist who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year. The renaming of the site was made official during a special ceremony Oct. 12.

AUSTIN, Texas — The most significant new funding for state and local parks in decades, money to build a new East Texas fish hatchery and new funds to help game wardens enforce wildlife laws and border security are among the highlights of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department 2008 budget.

New Way To Buy Federal Duck Stamps: The E-Duck Stamp

AUSTIN, Texas — Waterfowl hunters in Texas will have the option of purchasing a Federal Duck Stamp electronically this year, as part of a three-year joint effort between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and nine state fish and wildlife agencies, including the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

New Law Prohibits All Hunting of Wildlife From Roads

AUSTIN, Texas — With the passage of House Bill 12 by the 80th Texas Legislature, it is now unlawful to hunt any wild bird or animal on a public road or the right-of-way of a public road.

Seguin Coliseum To Host Funeral for Game Warden Ty Patterson

AUSTIN, Texas — Funeral and visitation services for Game Warden Teyran “Ty” Patterson will take place in Seguin Sunday and Monday, with more than 1,000 people expected to attend. A benefit fund has also been set up at a Seguin bank for donations to support the Patterson family.
