BALMORHEA— Balmorhea State Park will be hosting two public meetings to announce changes in operations at one of west Texas’ most popular state parks.

April is State Parks Month at Whole Earth Provision Co.

AUSTIN — For the sixth year in a row, Whole Earth Provision Co. will support Texas State Parks throughout the month of April during their “April is Texas State Parks Month” fund drive at all eight locations across the state. The Texas-based travel, adventure and nature store will give all funds gathered during the effort to help fund state parks’ day-to-day operational expenses, including enhanced visitor programs, park trail maps and facilities maintenance.

TPWD Biologist Receives 2017 Ken Cook Friend of B.A.S.S. Fisheries Award

AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department inland fisheries biologist and avid bass angler Todd Driscoll of Jasper received the Ken Cook Friend of B.A.S.S Fisheries Award March 24 at the Bassmaster Classic in Houston. Driscoll is known among his peers and constituents for his work studying bass tournament fish care and mortality, improving fish habitat in some of the state’s top fisheries, dedicating much of his personal time to bass fishing, and passionately working with anglers to make fishing better in Texas.

Twelfth Annual Texas-National Archery Championship Draws Record 2,174 Children, 85 Schools to Belton

AUSTIN – More than 2,100 students from 85 schools across Texas are gathered at the Bell County Expo Center this week for the 12th annual Texas-National Archery in the Schools (NASP) Tournament and Scholarship Championship. Participants in the two-day event that starts today, range from grades 4-12 and are competing for college scholarships.
