Applications Being Accepted for Texas Game Warden Cadet Class

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is currently accepting applications for its 66th Texas Game Warden Cadet class.

TPW Commission Implements Two Year Chronic Wasting Disease Surveillance Zone in Four Counties

AUSTIN— A surveillance zone covering almost 200,000 acres in Duval, Jim Wells, Live Oak and McMullen counties will be implemented for two years after feedback was received in the August meeting of the Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPW) Commission. This zone will take effect prior to the 2022-2023 hunting season and TPW commissioners will consider the resulting data presented by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) staff to assess the need for continued surveillance in the established zone.

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has designated Lake Walter E. Long in Travis County as “infested” with zebra mussels, signifying an established, reproducing population in the lake.

AUSTIN- The private recreational angler red snapper season in federal waters will close at 11:59 p.m. Friday, September 2. Anglers may continue to harvest up to 4 red snapper per day with a 15-inch minimum length limit from Texas state waters.

TPWD Scale Loaner Program Lends Hand to Lone Star Jr Bassmasters

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) teamed up with Lone Star Jr Bassmasters (LSJrBM) to promote conservation and healthy fisheries for the club’s Aug. 6 tournament at Lake Tawakoni out of Sky Point RV Park Marina. The event utilized digital scales provided by TPWD’s scale loaner program to incorporate the catch, weigh and immediate release format.
