Governor Abbott Names Foster Chair, Appoints McCall to Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission

AUSTIN— Governor Greg Abbott announced the appointment of Paul Foster as the chair of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission. Additionally, John A. McCall Jr. O.D. was appointed to the commission for a term set to expire Feb. 1, 2031.

Governor Abbott Appoints Timmerman, Reappoints Patton to Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission

AUSTIN— Governor Greg Abbott appointed Tim Timmerman and reappointed Bobby Patton to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for terms set to expire Feb. 1, 2031. The appointment will be in effect at the next Commission meeting May 21 and 22.

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Detected in Several Mammal Species in the Texas Panhandle

AUSTIN —Recent testing has detected Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in mammal species including foxes, raccoons, striped skunks and domestic cats collected in Deaf Smith, Hansford, Lubbock, Ochiltree, Parmer and Randall Counties.

ATHENS – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is pleased to announce the 2025 winners of the Texas division of the Wildlife Forever’s Fish Art Contest. The contest is housed and administered by TPWD’s Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) in Athens.

National Invasive Species Awareness Week Feb. 24-28, Supports Initiatives to Prevent Harmful, Non-Native Plants and Wildlife

AUSTIN – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) encourages Texans to take steps to prevent the introduction and spread of harmful invasive species that negatively impact the state’s natural resources and economy. National Invasive Species Awareness Week, scheduled for Feb. 24 – 28, is an initiative to raise awareness of the threats of invasive species and provide solutions on how to prevent their spread.
