East Sandy Creek
East Sandy Creek begins north of New Waverly in Walker County and flows southwesterly into Lake Conroe. The creek is fringed by pine and bottomland hardwood forest that provides it with moderate woody debris habitat for a diverse community of fish and macroinvertebrates. Common fish species found here include numerous minnows, spotted suckers, yellow bullheads, pirate perch, bluegill, warmouth, spotted sunfish, longear sunfish, largemouth bass, and dusky darters.8 The ecologically significant segment is from the confluence with Lake Conroe upstream to its headwaters north of New Waverly.
