Captain Steve Stubbe

Presentation: New Guide Service on Toledo Bend

Steve (Scooby) Stubbe has worked and played on the water since 1977. He has been involved in several bass clubs, fished in tournaments, and guided for the Sunshine kids' fishing tournaments. He hosted a Saturday morning radio show, Tech Reps, which featured pros discussing the finer points of outdoor sporting equipment. For the past three years, he has been a regular guest on Bob Stevenson's Outdoor Show (610 Sports) in Houston.

Capt. Scooby lived and fished on Lake Sam Rayburn for five years. He now lives and fishes on Toledo Bend Reservoir. On a working trip to Venice, Louisiana, he observed a boat running in a canal with heavy vegetation and thought, "That's the boat I need for the mine fields of Toledo Bend." He tracked down the boat maker (Gator Tail) and contacted the factory, which built a custom boat to his specifications. This boat has changed the way he fishes, offering access to numerous places he could see, but not reach, with his earlier fiberglass boat. When Scooby took friends fishing with this new one-of-a-kind rig they would always mention that it was more like an adventure than a fishing trip. This inspired him to start Mudfish Adventure, LLC, so other people could experience this unique style of fly fishing.
