Texas Tech History Exhibit
April 2001
I. Discussion: Staff will brief the Commission on the Texas Tech Exhibit, “Texas Natural History, 1889-1905”. The goal of the exhibit is to educate the public about the value of Texas’ diverse and unique wildlife resources and the importance of conservation.
The exhibit will:
- Detail the objectives and methods of the field naturalists while surveying the biological diversity of the state.
- Illustrate the changes that have occurred over the last century with regard to human population growth, land use changes, and changes in species diversity and abundance.
- Highlight the black bear, grizzly bear, ocelot, jaguarundi, jaguar, gray wolf, red wolf, prairie dog, black-footed ferret, pronghorn, bighorn, beaver, nutria, and exotic ungulates.
