Commission Agenda Item No. 18
Action
Easement Request – Galveston County
August 2003

I. Discussion: A request for an easement across a six acre tract of Galveston Island State Park to access a landlocked lot has been made to the Conservation Committee of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (Commission) for consideration and action by the full Commission. An assessment of the natural resources of the six-acre tract has been completed by Department staff and the natural resources of the area are of high importance and would be negatively impacted extensively by an easement. The natural resource assessment will be presented to the Commission for review.

II. Recommendation: The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:

“Request to grant an easement in accordance with Department rule 31 Texas Administrative Code 51.92, made in a letter dated April 21, 2003, across a six-acre tract of Galveston Island State Park for access to a landlocked lot is denied.”
