Briefing
TPWD's Role and Responsibility in Water Resources
April 2004

I. Executive Summary: Ann Bright will provide a briefing regarding the roles and responsibilities of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) in connection with water issues in the state.

II. Discussion: The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is the state agency with primary responsibility for protection of the state’s fish and wildlife resources. TPWD, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality each have a statutory role in addressing water resource issues within the state. TCEQ staff will provide an overview of TPWD’s roles and responsibilities in connection with water resources, including TPWD’s interactions with TWDB and TCEQ.
