Designation of Nonprofit Partners
Recommended Adoption of Proposed Changes
January 22, 2026

I.      Executive Summary:  Under Texas Parks and Wildlife Code chapter 11, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is authorized to select and cooperate with nonprofit partners to serve TPWD’s goals, and those nonprofit partners must be approved by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (Commission). Staff requests that the Commission approve the current list of nonprofit partners.

II.     Discussion:  TPWD regulations provide that nonprofit partners must be designated by the Commission in a public meeting. These nonprofit partners include organizations that exist primarily for the purpose of a specific TPWD property, facility, or program. In addition, the Commission has designated the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, which supports department-wide goals, to be TPWD’s official nonprofit partner. Staff requests Commission approval of Exhibit A, which contains an updated list of nonprofit partners, including the official nonprofit partner.

III.   Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Commission adopt the following motion:

“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approves the list attached as Exhibit A and designates those entities as nonprofit partners of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.”
