Star Party in the Borderlands *Reservations Required*
The stars at night are big and bright✨✨✨! Join park rangers on a tour across our galactic neighborhood.
Explore the far outreaches of the universe and share stories behind your favorite constellation. Park Rangers will take you on a guided tour of our night sky and look at some of your favorite planets and stars through a telescope.
Reservations are required due to limited space. Please email Ranger Omar to reserve a spot.
Date: Saturday, November 22, 2025
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 PM.
Where: West Contrabando Trailhead. Located on FM 170 (River Road), approximately 7 miles from the Barton Warnock Visitor Center and 40 miles east of Fort Leaton SHS.
Bring:
- Red lights (to preserve night vision)
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Water and snacks
- A telescope (if you have one!)
- Your own chair (for a comfortable viewing experience)
Cost: This event is free with park admission, $5 per person 13 and older. Park Admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
After Hour Passes: You can reserve your pass online here. If you do not reserve your day pass in advance online, you will need to come with exact change or your Texas State Parks Pass to fill out a self-pay envelope in the parking lot of the Barton Warnock Visitor Center or Fort Leaton State Historic Site.
