Join a ranger on a special guided hike to the backcountry area of the park where the dogwood trees bloom along the creek.

The dogwoods are at their peak bloom and we want you to experience it too! This hike is around 2 miles long.

There is one area where we will be traversing off trail with uneven steps that might be covered by tall vegetation and hard to see, then there will be several tall "steps" up.  Another section will be a steady hike up hill and then have a long, steep downhill slope. Please be aware of your abilities and ensure that you are able to easily hike off trail on uneven terrain with steady feet.

Bring: bottled water, snacks, binoculars, camera, and weather appropriate clothing.

Things to know:
*Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
*Not recommended for young children. We are hiking as a group, you cannot leave the group early to go back to your vehicle.
*We will be practicing Leave No Trace principles, all trash will need to be packed out with you, including toilet paper.
*There are no restrooms in this area, please use the restroom before arriving at the meeting location and fill your water bottle before arriving at the meeting location.

Time: 1-3:30pm

For the meeting location:
Type these coordinates into Google Maps:
30.107084, -97.241786

From there we will all caravan to the hike parking area. It will be along a gravel roadside and we will need to pull off the road onto unpaved areas. Your vehicle needs to have higher clearance. If there are lots of vehicles, we will need everyone to carpool to lower the number of vehicles.

Please arrive by 12:50pm. We will be leaving the meeting area at 1pm -
Do Not arrive late, we will not wait.

This program is free after park entrance fee is paid.
You must have a valid day use entrance pass on your windshield to attend this hike.
