Celebrate Howl-O-Ween with a guided B.A.R.K. Ranger Hike in Bastrop State Park! Costumes encouraged but optional.
Join us on a fun, Howl-O-Ween day, 1-mile loop guided hike with your furry friend to learn about keeping them safe on the trails while following B.A.R.K Ranger principles. At the end, receive a B.A.R.K. Ranger certificate! Pups and owners encouraged to hike in costume.
Meet at the Playground area near the Trail Map sign by the restroom.
The trail does have a few sections with steep inclines, steps, and steady declines. The tread is rocky for some downhill and uphill sections, the flat area of the trail is sandy.
Bring bottled water for you and your bark ranger. Wear closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing.
Please consider the following: Is your pet well mannered and used to hiking in large groups with new people they don't know? Is your pet friendly and well mannered to other pets that may attend the hike as well? Is your pet used to being on a six foot leash at all times?
You must follow all regulations while in the park.
- Pets must be on a six-foot or shorter leash at all times.
- You must bring waste bags. If your pet poops in the park, you must bag it up and carry it along the remainder of the hike with you until you can deposit it in a trash bin.
- You must be in control of your pet at all times.
Bring plenty of water, a water dish and treats for your pet for the hike.
This hike is weather dependent. If there is inclement weather, the hike will be canceled.
Program is free after park entrance fee is paid.
