The Great Backyard Bird Count

Join Ranger Madalyn to see how many birds we can identify on a walk around the lake and around one of our camp loops! Beginners and experienced birders all welcome! Two times/opportunities available, click to see more info!
First Opportunity: 9am to 10:30am
Learn about The Great Backyard Bird Count and be a participant on this fun hike! Meet at the Canoe Launch/Fishing Area at 9am! Be ready for a slow hike off trail around part of the lake with plenty of stops to I.D. and count birds!
Second Opportunity: 1pm to 2pm
Learn about The Great Backyard Bird Count and be a participant on this easy walk around Lakeview Campground! Meet at the Picnic Pavilion in Lakeview Camp Loop at 1pm. Be ready for a slow and easy walk around the campground loop, we might even stop and sit at a picnic table for an impromptu "Bird Sit" style birding.
Beginners encouraged to come to either program! Ranger Madalyn is still a beginner birder too! All are welcome!
Bring: Binoculars, closed toe shoes, bottled water
We will have some binoculars available to borrow during the program as well.
Program is free after park entrance fee is paid. $5 per person, children 12 and under are free!
