Before you can join us:
- You must register and receive confirmation
- Anyone registered under the age of 15 must share a 2-seater kayak with an adult. Make sure that enough adults will be attending with your group to meet this requirement.
- Secure shoes and life jackets must be worn during trip
Equipment: Kayaks, paddles, and life vests will be provided by the park. All kayaks are two-person tandems.
Program Expectations: THIS IS A BEGINNER PADDLING CLASS! Program will cover all the basics of paddling and safety instruction prior to getting on the water. After safety and presentation, one ranger will lead a paddle around the Saw Mill Pond to practice your new skills. For safety, all participants must stay in Saw Mill Pond during the program. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. Bring plenty of water and snacks to keep you hydrated and fueled. Please do not bring anything you do not want to risk losing in the water. All children younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire program.
When: 9 - 11 a.m.

What to bring:
- Water
- Snacks
- Sunscreen/Hat/Sunglasses
- Bug Spray
- Shoes that can get wet (shoes must be secure on foot; please no flip-flops or open-backed clogs)
- Clothes you do not mind getting wet
What NOT to bring:
- Anything that goes out on the tour may get wet, muddy, or completely submerged- if you don't want to lose it, please leave it on shore.
Cost: Free with paid park admission ($4 for per person 13 and older; 12 and under are free) or with a Texas State Parks Pass.
Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. An email address and phone number must be provided when registering in case we have to cancel.
