I-Naturalist is a website and app that allows users to submit photos of animals, plants, and other living things to create a live map of a species' global presence and is often used by naturalists and other scientists to conduct research on the natural world. Learn how you can contribute and join our guided programs to get you started!
We recommend pre-loading the I-Naturalist app on your smart device and making a free account before the event. Rangers will be available to help during the kick-off!
1:00pm-1:30pm Kick-Off at Penn Farm
Learn how to use I-Naturalist to catalog the living world around you!
1:30pm-3:00pm Prairie Prowl
Take a guided hike on our prairie and get to know the flowers and fauna! Meet at the Penn Farm Parking Lot.
3:30-5:00pm Aquatic Adventures
Explore the secret underwater world of pond life! Meet at Perch Pond.
Winners for most research-grade observations, most species, most unique observation, and Rookie of the Year will be announced on Social Media on Wednesday, April 29th. Observations may be submitted to the I-Naturalist project from Saturday, April 25th at 8:00am to Sunday, April 26th at 8:00pm.
Bring: Water and a snack if you need one and dress for the weather! Preload the I-Naturalist app on your smart device and make an account before participating. Rangers will be able to help during the kick-off!
Cost: Free with $7 per person park entry fee or presentation of a Texas State Parks Pass. Children 12 and under are free to enter the park.
