Rope Making

Turn plants into rope fibers, just like the Native Americans! Playing tug-of-war at the end is optional, but encouraged!

Program Expectations: Plant leaves from Yucca will be pounded, scraped and processed into rope fibers with rocks and water. Fibers will be used to make rope, braid necklaces, etc.

When: 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm

Where: Nature Center/Gym Sidewalks

What to bring:

  • Jacket
  • Water
  • Hat/Sunglasses

Accessibility: Parking will be outside the recreation complex. Restrooms are in the breezeway. All surfaces are paved; however, kneeling is the best way to process the plant fibers. Please contact Hannah Schulze to arrange for a table!

This program is included in park entry fees. Programs are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced on this website, or you can call park headquarters.
