Birding 101

Learn the basics of bird watching.

Learn some tips to build skills in finding and identifying birds. Afterwards, we'll take a walk around the Lone Pine Boat Launch parking area looking for birds putting your new skills to the test. A Cooper Lake State Park Bird checklist provided. 

Meet at Lone Pine Boat Ramp Parking Area at 9 a.m.

Bring your binoculars, bird identification guide, water, dress for the weather, and wear sunscreen.

Cost: Park programs are open to the public and free with a paid park entrance fee of $5 per person ages 13 and up; children 12 and under are always free! Park entry is free with the Texas State Park Pass. No need to register—just show up!
