Living With Black Bears
Sat, September 27, 2025
Black bears are returning to their native land here in the Trans-Pecos. Do you know how to live in harmony with these fascinating creatures?
The black bear population in the Davis Mountains was healthy until rampant hunting wiped them out by 1950. During the late 1980's, black bear started crossing the Rio Grande into Big Bend National Park and surrounding areas, repopulating land they once knew. We know black bear have been frequenting areas close to the park for a few years...and were sighted in the park very recently!
Come hear more about these marvelous mammals and how WE can live amongst them. Remember...A fed bear is a dead bear!
