Mile - High First Day Hike

Start 2026 off on the right (or left) foot by joining us on our Mile - High First Day Hike.

At just over 5,000 feet in elevation, our trails offer beautiful vistas of the surrounding Davis Mountains. This moderate hike along Skyline Drive Trail will take 2 - 2.5 hours, including a break at the Scenic Overlook where we will take a First Day “selfie.” Wear hiking shoes/boots and bring trekking poles if you have mobility issues. You may stick to the pavement and walk Skyline Drive if you'd prefer.

Meet: at the CCC Rock Lookout (far end of Skyline Drive)

Bring: warm layers, hiking/walking shoes, water, hat, sunscreen, dog-friendly

Cost: Free for campers or those with day passes. Daily entrance fee is $6/adult or free for the carload with Texas State Park Pass.
