Dinosaur Valley is happy to announce we will be partnering with Girl Scouts Love State Parks! September 13th, Dinosaur Valley will be hosting programs in honor of this event! Take a look at some of the details below:
Date: September 13, 2025
Cost: Anyone 13 or older who can show an affiliation with the GSA (via vest, t-shirt, troop number, etc.) will receive free entry into the park, no reservation required. Children 12 and younger already receive free entry to all Texas State Parks. As long as parents and troop leaders can show proof they are part of the GSA, the entry will be free.
Parking: Parking will be limited the morning of this event. We recommend carpooling with your group if possible. We also recommend arriving early to allow time to stop at Headquarters and obtain your vehicle permit, find a parking space, grab your water, and head to the Dino Models.
Programs:
- 9AM - River Romp at the Dino Models
- Join along as we walk the Paluxy River Trail and keep an eye on the river for 113-million-year-old dinosaur tracks and modern creatures that inhabit the park today!
- There will be two hike options:
- A 1-mile hike round trip along the Paluxy River Trail from the Ballroom Site to Main Track Site which will include 4 sets of stairs
- A shorter, accessible hike (approximately 1/2 a mile) on flat terrain from the Blue Hole Overlook to the Main Track Site. Dinosaur Valley will have adaptive hiking equipment available for this event. Please contact Ranger Laney at anna.kohout@tpwd.texas.gov to reserve & check availability.
- 10AM - Track Talk at Main Track Site
-
At this stationary program we'll discuss the dinosaur tracks, the dinosaurs that made them, and a bit of the geologic history of the park.
-
- 11AM - Art in the Park at the Dino Models
- Unleash your creativity with us and celebrate the wonders of our park by designing your own Dinosaur Valley State Park Patch!
- This program is great for all ages!
Each participant must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times.
You are welcome to come and go at each program. A ranger will be leading each activity and is happy to guide groups to each location as we move around.
Restrooms, water refill station, and shaded picnic tables are all available at the Day Use Areas for all visitors.
