Discovery Night

8:00p to 10:00p
Sat, July 06, 2024

(956) 565-3919

A ranger-guided night hike which may include stargazing, alligators, pauraques, owls, scorpions, tarantulas, frogs, snakes, armadillos, or raccoons-- it's a surprise for all of us!

You've seen the park in the daytime, now see it at night:

  • spider-sniffing (maybe even tarantulas!)
  • scorpions glowing under black lights
  • pauraques (night birds seen nowhere else in the United States except South Texas)
  • alligator eyes glowing red in the night
  • creatures of the night. anything is possible including armadillos, owls, frogs, bobcats, snakes, bats...

Meet on the deck just outside the Park Store. Suitable for all ages. Free with park admission ($5 for adults, free with park pass and children-under 12).

Doesn't cancel just for rain, does cancel for thunder or lightning.  Also watch for warnings for Beryl!
