Rocking Rock Art

Join Ranger Arian at Fort Leaton to learn how indigenous peoples of Big Bend communicated via rock art and the stories left behind.
Communication looked very different in ancient times. They had their own memes... They used nature as their canvas and prepared their own paint and tools to send messages via rock art. Show us your artistic skills by joining us in making our own paint and artificial rocks.
Reservations are required due to limited space. Please email Arian Velazquez-Ornelas to reserve a spot.

Time: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: Fort Leaton State Historic Site. Located on East FM 170 (River Road), approximately 1 mile outside Presidio and 51 miles west of the Barton Warnock Visitor Center. The activity will be held in the Formal Parlor of Fort Leaton.
Bring: Bring a water bottle. All other materials will be provided for you.
Cost: This event is free with park admission, $5 per person 13 and older. Park Admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
