Full Moon Nature Therapy Walk

Enjoy a full moon guided nature therapy walk in Franklin Mountains State Park.

This is an opportunity to slow down and tap into your senses as the sun sets and the full moon rises over the Franklin Mountains. Led by Jenna Dodson, a trainee with the Association of Forest and Nature Therapy, this event will be an experience of quiet attention and deep listening, to yourself and our shared home. 

Reservations required; to reserve your spot, call the office at (915) 444-9100.

Restrooms are available 0.6 miles away from the parking area. The walk will take place on the Nature Walk, an easy 3/4 mile loop trail. 

Bring: Please remember to wear closed toed shoes, and bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hat, and insect repellent as needed.

 

Optional: binoculars, hiking stick, camera, and a map.

 

Meeting location: The Nature Walk trailhead. As you enter the Tom Mays unit of Franklin Mountains State Park, stop and get you pass at the Visitor center, then continue down the road just past the Maintenance yard. It will be the first parking lot on the Right hand side after the Maintenance sheds. If you pass the second speedbump, you just missed it.

Fee: $8 for adults 13 years old and up; $3 for Texas State Park Pass holders, and $1.00 for children 12 years old and under.

 

Directions: 

From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left. 

From Eastside on Hwy 54, take exit 29 towards Transmountain Rd, travel west 7-7.5 miles through the mountains. Park entrance will be on the right.

If using a GPS be sure to search for "2900 Tom Mays Access Road," not "Franklin Mountains State Park."
