La Mer: A French Soundscape with Wild Notes🎼
Sun, August 23, 2026
Join the Wild Notes Foundation cellist for a morning of French music inspired by water, light, and the ocean's endless movement.🎻
Solo cello selections from Debussy, Ravel, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, and more will transform the
park into a living soundscape—music composed not just about nature, but as an attempt to translate it, the way Monet translated water and light into color. Just bring a chair or blanket and let the music meet the landscape.
This program is part of Wild Notes' interpretive soundscape series, presented in partnership with Friends of Galveston Island State Park. 🤝
Program details:
• Terrain: Paved concrete, soft sand, packed sand 🏖️
• Approximate duration: 25 minutes ⏱️
• Meet: On the beach, just off the day-use parking lot beach entrance—guests are encouraged to bring chairs or towels to sit on 📍
• This is an outdoor event; weather and natural sounds are part of the experience 🌤️🌊
This concert is part of Wild Notes, a music-in-nature initiative that creates listening-based experiences in parks and natural spaces to encourage reflection, stewardship, and meaningful connection to place. Learn more about Wild Notes' mission at www.wildnotes.org.
