Rise of the Wild Prairie Guided Hike

Experience Galveston Island’s wild side!

Join us for a guided hike through a landscape that has been transformed dramatically over the past few years. What was once regrowth after a prescribed burn is now a thriving mosaic of grasses, blooming flowers, and wildlife. This is your chance to see how the prairie evolves over time - revealing colors, textures, and natural surprises with every season.

This hike has very little shade, so hats and sunglasses are highly recommended.

• Bring: Sunscreen, bug spray, water, weather appropriate clothing and comfortable hiking shoes.
• Meet: Nature Center
• What to expect: presentation on prairie grasses, ~0.3 walk on grass trail; some uneven spots
• Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 & under. Park entry free with a State Parks Pass.

*Events and programs subject to cancellation due to weather. Please contact park staff for more information and further updates.
