Birds, Binoculars & a Breezy Stroll

Join us for a leisurely walk where we’ll cover the basics of birding, practice identifying some common local species, and—if we’re lucky—spot a few migratory birds passing through the island. This program is family-friendly and great for all ages and experience levels.

🔍 What to Expect:

  • 🌿 Easy 0.75-mile walk with no shade — wear sun protection!

  • 🐤 Tips for spotting and identifying birds

  • 🌾 Learn about local wildlife and plant life along the way

  • 🧠 Ranger-led, hands-on, and fun!

🧺 What to Bring:

  • BUG SPRAY (trust us!)

  • Water

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Close-toed shoes that can get wet

  • Binoculars (optional – we may have a few to share!)

📍 Details:

  • Meet at: Nature Center

  • Cost: $5 per adult / Free for kids 12 & under
    (Entry also free with a Texas State Parks Pass)
