Celebrate National Prairie Day with purpose!
Join Galveston Island State Park, Go Outside Alliance, Houston Zoo, the Friends of Galveston Island State Park (FoGISP), and the Texas Conservation Alliance (TCA) for a rewarding, hands-on coastal prairie restoration project.
🪴 What You’ll Do:
Volunteers will plant native coastal prairie species grown right here at the park’s nursery.These plants play a critical role in supporting local wildlife, protecting against erosion, and preserving the unique beauty of our coastal ecosystem.
Your work will make a lasting impact in restoring and protecting this rare and valuable habitat.

Registration is required – space is limited!

Meeting Spot: Park and meet at the Nature Center

Transportation: Volunteers will carpool to the planting site (carpooling is encouraged!)

What to Wear: Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required

Don’t forget water, sun protection, and a can-do attitude!
