Learn how to use the free app, iNaturalist, to help identify plants and animals and participate in a citizen science project- the City Nature Challenge!

Become a Citizen Scientist with the help of the iNaturalist app and help scientists learn about the world around us! Learn how to use the app to record your observations and participate in the City Nature Challenge.

Join a Ranger on a walk down the Aranama Nature Trail as we use the free app to identify plants and animals we come across. Then it can be shared with others and your data can be used by the scientific community! This is a great way to get kids involved in nature, satisfy your own curiosity, and help scientists get a better understanding of species diversity and distribution. So get those phones out and let's explore!

  • Meet on the mission porch
  • Program is free with park entrance ($4 per adult, free for children 12 & under).
  • Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Smart phone not required.
