Looking to volunteer at a Texas State Park? Now is your opportunity!

Guinea grass was originally introduced as a grazing grass for cattle. Unfortunately, it's now widespread and harms other native grasses.

We need your help to remove it! Join Ranger Cat and help her tackle this invasive grass. We'll provide the supplies: gloves, goggles, and shovels.

How to prepare: This task will take you into tall grass. It is required that you wear pants and close-toed shoes in order to participate. Long sleeves are highly encouraged.
Weather: This program is weather dependent, and we expect a wet summer. Please be sure to check back for regular updates!

When: 9:00-10:00am
Where: Big Tree
Bring: bug spray, sun protection, hydration
What to wear: long sleeves and pants and close-toed shoes
Hazards: stinging nettle and fire ants exist in the Big Tree Area.
Cost: FREE
Age: This activity is best suited for those that are 8 years and older.
Pets: leashed pets are welcome
