Cordage: Making Rope with Yucca

Learn to make rope from one of our native plants!
Rope is a useful tool that dates back centuries. Civilizations relied on rope for a variety of reasons, including food procurement, building structures, and more.
In this program, you'll learn about the history of cordage and even get to make your own to take home! This program will take place inside the Recreation Hall, which now has AC!
When: 1:00-2:00pm
Where: CCC Recreation Hall
Bring: hydration
Accessibility: This program takes place inside and has accessible parking nearby.
Cost: Free with park entrance permit ($5/adult, kids 12yrs and under free)
Pets: No pets are permitted inside the Rec Hall. Sorry!
Age: This program is best for kids 7 years and older (it requires a little dexterity to make the rope)
FYI:
- Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the program.
- Program is free with park entrance ($5/person, children 12 & under are free) or Texas State Parks Annual Pass.
- Program may be cancelled if no participants are present within 10 minutes of the start time, or in the case of inclement weather.
