Night Sky Exploration - Perseid Meteor Shower Edition

9:15p to 10:15p
Sat, August 09, 2025
Sara Rock
(361) 729-2858

Join a ranger as we tour the constellations of the night sky. Bonus: The Perseid meteor shower is active during this time!

It will be a full moon, so some constellations may be difficult to see. But we get a bonus: the Perseid meteor shower lasts about 4 weeks, and we're almost to its peak viewing time!

We ask that you do NOT bring any white light flashlights. Red lights only to allow our eyes to adjust to the dark.

Bring: Bug spray, a comfortable chair or blanket, hydration, red flashlight or headlight. Optional: binoculars (great for full moon viewing!)
Where: Day Use picnic area (north Rec Hall parking lot). Look for the red lights.
Accessibility: Accessible parking available. The program will take place in a flat, grassy area. For questions on accessibility, email Ranger Sara.
