First Day Hike: Stroll Down the Discovery Trail

Start the new year with a gentle walk on the all-weather Discovery Trail.

This easy hike is about 1.25 miles long. Open to all ages; no pets please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Meet at the Discovery Trailhead. Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear and bring one liter of water PER PERSON, lunch, and a snack if you like. Open to the first 15 who check in at the Discovery Trailhead between 8:30-8:45 a.m.

Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy. The Natural Area’s front gates open at 7AM; plan to check in and be ready to go no later than 8:45 a.m. The hike starts promptly at 9 a.m. 

Though the activity is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. We often fill to capacity. To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and print out a day pass. Please note: reserving a Day Pass does not guarantee a spot for you on the hike! The hike is limited to the first 15 participants to check-in with the hike leader.
