Sounds of the Night

6:15p to 6:45p

Sssshhhh...did you hear that? What was that noise?

UPDATE 10/25: Due to wet conditions, we may need to move the Wildlife Trick or Treat  activities (see separate even listing) to the amphitheater and parking lot C (not in the woods). In that situation, Sounds of the Night may be canceled or reformatted to make room for the rest of the event. We apologize for any inconvenience!

The outdoors at night can seem a little spooky, unless you know what all those strange thumps, rustles and buzzes are. Play a game with us to learn some of our common wildlife sounds, before trick or treating with the wildlife (see separate event listing, Wildlife Trick or Treat 6-8 pm).

We'll repeat this activity at 7 pm, so trick-or-treaters have an additional chance to participate.

Who is Invited:

This activity is open to all ages. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

This is a public program intended for individuals or families. If you would like to bring a group for a program at Government Canyon, please contact the Park Interpreter at Lisa.Cole@tpwd.texas.gov to schedule at a different time.

Where to Meet:

We'll meet in the Amphitheater, next to Parking Lot C.

How to Prepare:

Though the activity is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. We often fill to capacity. To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please pre-purchase and print out a day pass. Day passes can be reserved beginning one month before the date of your visit.

Seating is on limestone benches. A blanket or stadium seat is suggested to make sitting more comfortable.

If ADA assistance is required, please request modifications using this form, or email accessibility@tpwd.texas.gov at least 2 weeks in advance.

Cancellation:

This program is weather-dependent and subject to cancellation. Check conditions by calling GCSNA's main office at 210-688-9055, or go to the GCSNA webpage, Instagram, or Facebook.
