Homeschool Class: Habitat Hangout *Class is FULL*
Thu, December 14, 2023
Experience Guadalupe River State Park as an outdoor classroom in this program for school-age kids!
Guadalupe River State Park’s homeschool program is a set of outdoor classes for homeschool kiddos grades 1-5. Classes are usually held on the second full week of the month (September through April), and you can choose between Thursday at 9am or Friday at 9am. We will cover a different topic every month, so don’t miss out!
December’s topic is basic fish ecology! Following “Habitat Hangout”, students will learn about the five essential components of fish habitat: food, water, shelter, space, and oxygen. Students will also learn about different freshwater and saltwater fish found in Texas waters. After the program and pending the conditions of the river, students and their parents can check out a fishing rod and reel should they want to go fishing! Please note that this portion will not be ranger-led.
Registration: Program is limited to 25 students. To register, please email Ranger Jessica at jessica.bergner@tpwd.texas.gov. *As of 09/03, both classes are FULL*
Please register only if you are sure your child can attend. If your plans change, email to cancel so that another child can have that spot.
Prepare: Dress for the weather and bring water.
Meet: Meet at the amphitheater behind the Discovery Center.
Fees: None. Entry fees will be waived under an educational waiver for the student and their parent or guardian.
If ADA assistance is required, please inform park headquarters (830) 438-2656 ahead of time.
**Park programs are subject to change/cancellation in the event of inclement weather**
