Come join Park Host Joshua for a hike (~3.76 miles) at the Bauer Unit on Patriot Day!
Patriot Day is a holiday observed in the United States on September 11. The date commemorates the lives of those who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Virginia and those who perished when the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania. The holiday also recognizes those who died attempting to rescue people trapped by the attacks.
**Registration is required**
Meet: Bauer Unit parking lot at 7:45am; hike will begin promptly at 8:00am
Wear: Red, white or blue attire and sturdy hiking shoes; dress for the weather
Bring: Water and sun protection
Cost: Free with park admission; Adults: $7, Children 12 & under: Free
There is no ranger station at the Bauer Unit so exact cash or a park pass can be used at the self-pay station. Reservations can also be made at texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com
Bauer Unit Directions (from the park): Turn right onto Hwy. 46 from Park Road 31. Go 3 miles and turn right on FM 3351. Go approx. 3.5 miles and turn right on Edge Falls Rd. Continue for 2.4 miles and turn right on Acker Road. Go 2.2 miles to entrance.
