Kayak through time

Come kayak with us, and learn about the history and geology of Inks Lake State Park
Join us in kayaking to the Devil’s Waterhole and surrounding areas as we talk about the history of Inks Lake! This includes the human and geologic history as well as how and why the lake was created.
**Kayaks will be available to the first 15 to sign up. Only those registered may attend.
Please email andrew.berezin@tpwd.texas.gov to register. Please include:
- Name, phone number.
- Number of persons in the party.
- Ages and numbers of children and adults.
There is no extra cost for this program, but valid Day-Use Passes are required for all adults 13 and over. Reserving your Day-Use Pass in advance is recommended especially on busy weekends and Holidays.
When: Saturday August 10th at 9:00 AM
Where: Meet at the Park Store
Expect:
- Moderate to extreme physical activity in the great outdoors
- Small group instruction and guidance
- 1.5 hour paddling trip to Devil's Waterhole and back
- Possible cancellations due to weather
- Anything that goes out may get wet or completely submerged - including you!
What to bring:
- Water and snacks
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat that won't blow away
- Towel or dry clothes for after
Note: For safety reasons, we will not allow any children under the age of 5 to participate. Children ages 5-12 will be required to ride in a tandem kayak with their guardian. Children ages 13 and older can use their own single kayak if they have the physical capability to control it on their own.
•You will be required to sign a waiver before participating and are asked to follow all program rules and guidelines. Refusal to follow all stated rules will result in exclusion from the activity.
•Please note, anything you bring in the kayak could possibly get wet or end up at the bottom of the lake. Inks Lake State Park is not responsible for any lost items. We do not have dry bags at this time.
•Everyone, including adults, will be required to wear a properly fitted PFD at all times while in a boat.
•Program leaders have the authority to bar any individual from participating if there is a safety concern for either the individual or the group.
•This event is weather dependent. Pouring rain, lightning within 10 miles of the park, or sustained winds of 10mph or gusts of 15mph or greater will result in cancellation of the program.
