Mothing Program

Ranger-led program to find and identify moths of east Texas!

Join Ranger Eric for an evening program to learn about the moths that call Lake Livingston State Park home!

We will have a white bed sheet suspended across the street from the Headquarters building (first building as you enter the park), just next to the trailhead of the Oak Flat Trail, with a light bulb positioned just in front of it to attract moths! 

The moths in the area will congregate to the bedsheet where we can observe and identify them with field guides, as well as apps like Seek, Inaturalist, and more! 

When: 9pm

Where: Headquarters Building

Bring: Sturdy shoes; plenty of water; lots of questions!

Cost: This event is free with the purchase of a $6 day pass or a Texas State Park Pass.

Reminder: This program is weather dependent and may be canceled if conditions are unfavorable.
